Samantha gets a big break

Samantha has been waiting for the right break in Tamilnadu and once again luck knocked her door in the form of Gowtam Menon, the man who gave her YMC. Yes, Samantha is roped into play Superstar Ajith Kumar’s jodi in Gowtam Menon’s next film. First it was Sameera Reddy that was considered to play this role but finally it is Samantha, who managed to sneak into.
Samantha and Ajith Kumar in Gautham Menon film

But back in Tamil, Samantha has two small budget films to be completed. These two films do not have any star casting and Samantha is desperately looking for a break in Kollywood industry. And here comes director Gautham Menon. It seems that Gautham Menon has roped in Samantha once again for a Tamil film to play the female lead with Superstar Ajith Kumar in Gautham Menon’s next film. In fact, roping in Samantha was purely an afterthought as initially, the makers thought Sameera Reddy.
Well, is Samantha director Gautham Menon’s actress? Nevertheless, let’s hope that Samantha and Gautham Menon repeat the ‘Ye Maaya Chesave’ magic.

Samantha speaks about her role in Brindavanam

Perky newcomer Samantha, who played the lead in "Ye Maaya Chesave" says, 'Naga Chaitanya is awesome, one of the most helpful co-stars a newcomer can have. And very, very encouraging.'
A Telugu-Malayli, Samantha doesn't know a word of Telugu. 'We speak Tamil and English at home, so Telugu is alien to me. I had great difficulty in mugging up the dialogues, but now, I can speak a few words,' she says.
The commerce grad, who's equally excited about her next 'Brindavanam' with Jr NTR, says, 'It's a lovely role, where I will be seen as a college student. I will be shaking my leg with Tarak, which will be a tough task for me though I am good at dancing.'
'I had been signed this film even before my first release, which I feels is great achievement. Though I am not good at Telugu now, it doesn't matter, I'm interested in meaty roles,' she finishes.
I feel lucky and worried: Samantha

Kerala beauty Samantha had a good start in Tollywood with her latest debut film Yemmaya Chesave with Naga Chaitanya She got appreciations from all over for her good performance and fortunately her first film receives a success talk. Unlike other heroines, she got an immediate offer for a big film like NTR’s Brindavanam. She is very happy for it and at the same time is very much worrying also, because, she has to act with highly talented hero NTR in her very second film. she said that she doesn’t understand whether to enjoy her luck or to worry for the acid test.

Lovely Interview with sammy !!!!!!

Albeit ‘YeMaya Chesave’ has hit the screens on a low profile, the film has achieved tremendous success. Meet the Jessy girl Samantha, the female lead of the film and get more insights.
Q. You hail from Telugu background?
Samantha – My paternal relatives come from Telugu background. My Mom is a Malayali and we speak Malayali and English. We settled in Chennai long time back.
Q. Can you speak Telugu?
Samantha – I can understand, I cannot speak, but I’m learning now. And I have mugged all my dialogues in ‘Ye Maya Chesave’. It was pretty easy.
Q. Tell us about your foray into film industry?
Samantha – When I was studying B.Com in Stella Maris College in Chennai, I did modeling for Naidu Hall Retail Shopping Mall. And then beckoned me a movie offer in Tamil and from there I got a call from Gautam Menon. Initially I was very afraid, but they have called me thrice and then I went for the auditions. I never thought I’d be selected. It’s all God’s grace.
Q. Do you believe in God?
Samantha – Very much! I do not offer prayers and perform poojas regularly, but I believe in almighty.
Q. Samantha is an interesting name! What does it mean?
Samantha – One who listens pleas and prayers
Q. Have you watched any Telugu films earlier?
Samantha – No, but I went to watch ‘Bommarillu’ with my friends when I heard that the film is really good. Though I did not understand the language, I could understand the emotions and sentiments. I also watched Trisha’s ‘Nuvvosthanante Nenoddantana’ in DVD. I like her a lot. And I’m really happy that Trisha also acted in ‘Ye Maya Chesave’.
Q. You were seen in Sarees and Chudidaars in your debut film ‘Ye Maya Chesave’. Will you continue the same?
Samantha – No! I don’t wear Sarees and Chudidaars in real life. I like to spot modern dresses. But Jessy’s character suits Sarees and Chudidaars and so I garbed them. If you observe, I don’t even have a makeup. Gautam Menon insisted on natural looks.
Q. You were initially afraid of Gautam Menon. But how could you cope with him?
Samantha – I relish watching Gautam Menon movies. And the heroine’s character will be very different and special. Gautam helped me a lot in acting and facial expressions I did exactly how Gautam showed me. I cannot forget the encouragement and morale boost he gave me.
Q. How about the lip locks with Nag Chaitanya?
Samantha – Nag Chaitanya is down to earth. He does not have any ego that he the son of a top hero (Nagarjuna). Since both have same age, we gelled well and he’s an energetic co-star. And for the lip locks, well, we have nothing to do with those scenes. We acted as per Gautam Menon’s instructions.
Q. Tell us about ‘Brindavanam’?
Samantha – I have to consider myself very lucky that each and every opportunity is coming my way. While I was shooting for ‘Ye Maaya Chesave’, ‘Brindavanam’ character was offered to me. I play indu in this film, a very good and a modern character.
Q. Have you done any acting course?
Samantha – No I did not. But I love A R Rahman’s music and I never thought that he would be the music director for my debut film. All my friends say that I dance very well, but my dancing skills will be tested with I shake my leg with NTR (giggles).
Q. Was there any scene in ‘Ye Maaya Chesave’ where you were really made to work hard?
Samantha – When Karthik visits me in Goa, I come down the stairs and it’s a very lengthy scecne. There are no cuts and I have said the dialogues without any prompting. I did that scene with lot of concentration. But I personally love the scene at America Central Park.
Q. What did your Parents say on seeing ‘Ye Maaya Chesave?’
Samantha – They did not see the film yet. They seldom watch films. In fact, initially they did not agree for my foray into films, but later I slowly convinced them.
Q. Who is your favorite actor?
Samantha – Surya is my favorite actor. I watch his films since my school days and he looks handsome.
Q. How do you prioritize films?
Samantha – My role and the script are my priorities. While I listen to the script, I can visualize my character and then decide on the film.
Q. Your dream project?
Samantha – Jessy character in ‘Em Maaya Chesav’ is a great character that no one would get for their debut film. I’m really lucky and if I say that I’m looking for any other character, that’s optimistic.
Q. People say that you look like Kamalini Mukherjee?
Samantha – Even I got the same complement I thought, during my college days, my friends are making fun of me, but now, if I look at myself, I reckon it’s true.
Q. You prefer Telugu or Tamil movies?
Samantha – I speak Tamil well. So I think I can have a future in Kollywood industry. First time I have applied make up was in Kollywood industry, but my first film was released in Telugu first and that’s why I’m eyeing Tollywood.
Many thanks Samantha for sharing all your thoughts…
samantha sweeps Tollywood!!!

sam ensures long screen play in tolly
In an industry where directors try and launch a fresh face with every new film, 22-year-old Samantha’s impressive debut, Yem Maya Chesave has already garnered her an enthusiastic fan following and two film deals. But, she knows sustaining her success will be a challenge.
“I don’t plan for the future. I am very pessimistic and don’t want to be disappointed if my plans don’t materialise. For now my career is fine and I’m getting meaty roles. I plan to sign only those films that offer me a character I can relate to,” asserts the actress who recently signed a film with NTR Jr. and Mahesh Babu after her critically acclaimed act in YMC.
Samantha wants to meticulously craft a career that ensures a long on-screen innings in Tollywood. She reportedly turned down an offer to act with Ram Charan Tej citing lack of dates. While most heroines are confined to glam-doll roles, she has a ‘checklist’ before she green lights a project – the script, the director’s potential, her character and the scope for performance. “It is the director who makes superstars. I didn’t even know how to carry off a sari. Gautam Menon gave me that confidence. The director’s potential is of key importance.”
But acting was never the first choice for this B.Com graduate from Chennai. “I always wanted to get into business and was interested in shares and stocks.” It was the chance to meet her favourite director that got her hurtling on the path to stardom, “I am a fan of Gautam Menon. I went for the audition just to see him. I never thought I’d be selected.”
Despite her Tamil debut, Banakathadi slated to release, Samantha is clear that Tollywood will always be her priority, “Telugu audiences have liked me. I owe a lot to these fans and it is my responsibility to act in this industry. Besides, Tollywood here is more chilled out and professional compared to the workaholic Tamil industry. I have fallen in love with Hyderabad. T’wood will be my priority.”
From the girl-next-door to overnight stardom, it’s been a daunting leap and Samantha frowns on rumours of her diva behaviour, “Since the success of my film YMC, there are a lot of expectations from me to sustain that success. Personally, I have not changed after I’ve become a star but I find it difficult to understand the things that come with stardom. Some people judge me, write things, twist words and change the meaning of what I’ve said. I am yet to understand why,” says the rising star who relies on her friends to keep her grounded.
I give first preference to Tollywood-Samantha

Samantha who has debuted in the Telugu film industry with ‘Ye Maya Chesave’ had become the hot favorite not only to the youngsters but also to many tollywood heroes. The actress had also grabbed many fans in kollywood too with this flick. Recently there is a buzz that the kollywood heroes such as Simbu and Vijay were looking for Samantha for their next films.
However, Samantha says that her first preference is for tollywood only since the actress had earlier debuted in a Tamil film but she did not receive much recognition over there and so Samantha has decided to give her first choice to tollywood as tollywood has brought her the stardom.Samantha follows 4 principles

Not only directors!! Even Heroes too!

The very next film now will be " Brindaavanam " opposite Jr NTR in which Kajal Agarwal is also doing a main lead. Vamsi Paidipally is directing which is being produced by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations banner. This movie will portray Samantha in a different outlook compared to that in " Ye Maya Chesave " . It " s everybody " s guess that Kajal Agarwal will have to display her best if at all she has to overcome the hype Samantha is already commanding.
Crazy about sam :)

She has just debuted in tollywood and her craze has been increasing in tollywood day after day, after her movie has been released. The ‘Ye Maya Chesave’ lady Samantha has really made a magic with her glamour and hot looks which grabbed the tollywood film-makers attention.
It is already known that the actress will be seen opposite Jr.NTR in Brindavanam and and Samantha might be seen opposite Mahesh babu in his next film as Maheh’s sister, Manjula has recently made this statement. If sources are to be believed, Tollywood young heroes and the film-makers are queuing up for the actress call sheets, who were wowed by her performance in her debut film.
Well, seems that Samantha giving a tough competition to the top heroines!
Sam twitter account confirmed i.e @samanthaprabu

The pretty ‘Jessie’ of ‘Ye Maaya Chesave’, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, has joined the Twitter bandwagon of Tollywood stars.
Samantha’s twitter handle goes by @samanthaprabu. Well, twitter’s been in news at least once a day in the past few weeks as actors have been joining twitter one by one. It was reported that Junior NTR and Ram joined recently. Now Samantha and the list seems like it would go on building.
There might be a stage where actors and actresses will respond only through social networking. It actually is a great platform for people to build their rapport with fans and give them a sneak peek of what their forthcoming movies hold.
